Ann Arbor adding boulder mountain, woodland climbing features to popular park

ANN ARBOR, MI — Big changes are coming soon to a popular Ann Arbor park.

A renovation and expansion of the Allmendinger Park playground off Pauline Boulevard is planned over the next month.

“Many awesome features are going to be included based on community feedback, including a new slide, nature- and woodland-themed climbing features and a log crawl,” Council Member Dharma Akmon, D-4th Ward, announced at the July 17 City Council meeting.

Construction has been bumped back a week, now expected to start the week of July 31, and should take about four weeks, depending on the weather, officials said.

The only existing play equipment being removed is an elevated sand table, which is being replaced with a new sand play area. There also are some existing site furnishings such as picnic tables being replaced.
