New images reveal how controversial industrial estate would look
Pictures of how the new controversial industrial estate in Ashton-in-Makerfield would look have emerged despite public backlash to the plans.
The 625,000 sq ft site was given approval by the planning inspectorate to go ahead and build on green belt land back in May. The developer, Glenbrook, successfully appealed the council’s planning committee decision to reject the application at the beginning of April 2022.
Property consultancy Gerald Eve has announced it is going to market Meridian 6, the 45-acre consented prime industrial site in Wigan on behalf of Glenbrook.
The “oven-ready” site offers both purchasers and occupiers a shortened development period and initial infrastructure can be implemented from the point of acquisition, they say. Glenbrook say they have implemented a number of sustainable elements into the scheme’s design “to promote low carbon development and to ensure it supports the social well-being of the community”, whilst also providing growth and economic prospects for the local area.
